The Iron Ring is a consortium of mercenary groups and international financiers originally from the Thyatian Empire but operating in several areas around the Sea of Dread. Involved heavily in the slave trade in Thyatis City and other areas where it is permitted. They are known to be an effective mercenary force, but brook no questions of their methods. The organization was seriously damaged by the dead of “Baron Black Eagle” but other cells outside of the Kingdom of Karameikos still hold their ground: Thyatian Empire, Ierendi and Isle of Dawn are some examples. Iron Ring on Ierendi:
The laws of Ierendi as enforced by the Ierendi Tribunal allow for slaves on the archipelago as long as the slaves are not citizens of Ierendi. If slavers are found with slaves that do have valid papers of identification as citizens of other nations, the slaves are freed and the slavers arrested. Business was good at that time for the Iron Ring and even Redwig Hendriks was on his way to a position in the Ierendi Tribunal. All that was destroyed by the economic downfall and Redwig lost his chance.
The fall of Baron Ludwig von Hendriks on the Kingdom of Karameikos and his relationship with the Iron Ring and pirates that were from both the Minrothad Guilds and Ierendi made the Kingdom of Karameikos to break diplomatic relationships with the Kingdom of Ierendi and the economy suffered because of it. At the moment of the fall of Black Eagle his relationship with both his cousin in Ierendi, Redwig Thellus Hendriks and the Iron Ring was made general knowledge in Ierendi City. The Iron Ring on Ierendi had to become very transparent and go very deep so that their current shady business were not discovered by the Ierendi Royal Guard who is waiting for a chance to disable the organization. Ten years later the economy is stabilizing and there are even rumors of a new embassy of Karameikos opening in Ierendi City. Iron Ring posses as a respectable business.
The plans of Redwig to became part of the Ierendi Tribunal by assassinating a few key members was fooled by the Band of the Wolf. Redwig died and the Iron Ring lost his power and reputation in Ierendi becoming a underground organization.
Iron Ring on the Isle of Dawn:
Iron Ring on the Kingdom of Karameikos:
It was suspected by some that they may be acting in violation of Ducal proclamations outlawing the trade in Kingdom of Karameikos territory. Although some branches of the organization are employed by forces subordinate to the Duke, many of their operations are carried out in secret, with little or no oversight by their employers. It was discover that Baron Ludwig von Hendriks of the Black Eagle Barony ( now known as Hagar ) was the leader of this organization. He was deposed and killed years ago by a band of heroic adventurers, Dusk and Dawn.
Currently the Iron Ring works in Karameikos in very deep underground activities. They know that the local justice will go to great extremes to identified and capture members and try not to take chances when recruiting new members and when accepting jobs.
Iron Ring on the Republic of Darokin:
The Iron Ring usually have members like the Crime Thug.
