D&D 3.0: Tales from Mystara
The Era of Blackmoor (BC 4000 – BC 3001).
The Azcan Empire was a vast and powerful nation that existed in the Known World more than 2000 years ago. They were centered on the area known today as Atruaghin Clans but covered areas as far as Republic of Darokin and Ierendi, to name a few.
After five centuries of struggle, an outside event brought to a dose the days of Azcan Oltec rivalry. This was the Great Rain of Fire. the Blackmoor cataclysm-the fiery end of Blackmoor’s technological civilization. To the Azcans, who (apart from the most extraordinarily widely-traveled traders) knew nothing of Blackmoor, it was the end of the world.
“The Azcans are a savage and cruel bunch. I see now that this reputation, spoken so much about by the various peoples of the Hollow World, is well deserved. This race participates fully and whole-heartedly in human sacrifices to their Immortal Atzanteotl. In fact, just as often as not, the victims are volunteers who believe that such a sacrifice will guarantee them a great place in the afterlife.”
