The Books
Book #1—A historical work, this book, written in the common tongue, outlines the history of the civilized area within 100 miles of the stronghold location. It contains nothing remarkable. Reference Tome for the skill Knowledge (History).

Book #2—This tome is apparently an encyclopedia of various types of plants. Although the various illustrations given within provide a clue to its topic, it is written in the language of elves, so it will not be understandable to a reader who does not know the elfin tongue (unless a read languages spell is used). Reference Tome for the skill Knowledge (Nature).

Book #3—This volume appears unremarkable at first glance, seeming to be a notebook with many handwritten entries of undecipherable runes and markings. It is actually a diary kept by Zelligar, and it details one of his adventures from the distant past, written in his own hand. The writing is not discernible unless a read languages spell is used. This book is really of no value to any finder, but a book dealer/scribe/librarian would pay up to 50 g.p. for it. Of course, if the book is sold in this manner, the seller risks a 40% chance of word of Its sale getting out as a rumor, with attendant problems developing as those who hear of it seek out the finder for further details.

Book #4—This work, written in the common language, discusses weather. Although well-illustrated with drawings of meteorological phenomena, descriptive text is sparse. Some cryptic notes written in the margins were apparently made by Zelligar, but these are undecipherable without a read languages spell and are actually nothing more than notes such as a student would make in studying the work to highlight important points. Book #5—This work, written in the common language, discusses engineering. Well-illustrated with drawings and diagrams. Some notes written in common in the margins were apparently made by Roghar, but these are actually nothing more than notes such as a student would make in studying the work to highlight important points. The Elvenguard Secret Quest

The adventurers follow the path of the elves to The Loggers were the Elves had a house with a disguised guard and horses. The adventurers befriend Petra Ladolentz.

The adventurers spied on the elves and their investigation. What did Carrienna Brightflame and Kenalas Silverstreak hide? What is their mission? To discover the agent of The Ear of Bargle on Threshold and what is he searching for.

Bugbears in disguise attacked the Loggers and tried to get the evidence on the elves’ house but the character took it. The evidence was a map of the places that the elves have investigated, a list of the people they have investigated and a list of suspects. The Band of the Wolf is in the list.

In their second day travelling The Black Woods, the adventurers found two Ogres that are fighting near a crevice. A sack hanged from a nearby dead tree. The bag had a victim inside who was speaking to the ogres in giant but murmuring in common and other languages. The adventurers decided to rescue the prisoner in the sack, who turned out to be a satyr named Pip Luck.

Later that day, two Harpies used their magical songs on the adventurers. They had been eating mushrooms and were high as fuck. So when they charmed the characters with their magic songs, they made then do stupid things like dance and sing.

Finally, the adventurers arrived to the ruins of the hermit on the north of The Black Woods. Pip told them that the hermit was much older than what the humans said and that originally was made for an older forgotten immortal. From the top of the ruins using the Red Box, the location of the tower in top of the Caverns of Quasqueton was found.

Trinkets and Prowess

Trinkets and Prowess

Researching in ancient tomes, searching for lost maps, re-trying failing attempts, The Band of the Wolf have the following results of their lengthy investigation:

  • The Keys – The Keys are made for a special kind of lock, a magical door. The key can open more than one door in the same dungeon. The doors will detect the magic of the key and know is not a fake. Each key by itself is worth 50gps for the materials used in it. The broken R-Key has was repaired but has 50% of failure. The Z-Key is in working condition.
  • Green Crystal Ring – This ring was made of arcane materials and is magical in nature, but the real power of the ring is that is coded to a specific area or to the magical traps or guardians of that area and the wearer can pass through the area without activating them. The ring could be valued as 200gps.
  • Little Red Box – Is made of Red Griffin skin. Worth 130gps. It was crafted to hold two rings (the same size as the Green Crystal Ring). The wood is from a kind of tree found on north of The Black Woods. The metal borders are shaped in the form of temple columns.
  • Nut Shell – The nut shell has some tiny inscriptions in goblin. It is glued up with a resin used by goblins. The smell is that of dried saliva and wolfsbane. Inside, there are more inscriptions in goblin, a piece of wolfsbane and werewolf teeth. Is a goblin amulet against werewolves. The werewolf teeth are worth 40gps.
  • Potion – This is a powerful version of the “Modify Memory Spell”:http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/modifyMemory.htm that is tailor made with the following specifications: The potion will make the person who drinks it to forget everything related to the location of the Caverns of Quasqueton and any item that they built for the place. Will Save (DC: 22) Caster Level 17 x Spell Level 9 × 50gps = 7650gps.

Following the riddle found on the old Torpeson’s Logs by Raizak Derek the Band tried to trick Colvis Nilenavi out of his hut and search the place for the unfinished map made by his ancestor with no avail. He saw through the deceit and was mad to the whole group for trying even wounding Maiavel and telling them that he will call his fellow hunters to fight them if needed. The group had to return in disguise using a Change Self spell to buy his family taxidermy collection for 200gp (triple the actual cost) and they found the unfinished map on the inside of a Dire Wolf trophy.

The group decided not to pursue the information they have about the The Ear of Bargle. They decided to go to the mountains and find the Caverns of Quasqueton.

In their first day of travelling The Black Woods, a Dire Wolf attacked the group and wounded one of them. The Dire Wolf was killed.

1 Week of time in the city of Threshold
1 Day travelling the Duke’s Road.
1/2 Day travelling the Black Woods.

Wealth:
No wealth was won on this adventure as the characters are no longer on the Baron’s wage and the Dire Wolf killed had no treasure.

The Dread Horde Part III

The Dread Horde Part II

Captain Mikel Irathen of the 1st Division of the Karameikos Army commanded 100 men and 25 of the Guard of Threshold including the Band of the Wolf to attack the Goblin Camp of the Dread Horde.

Kenalas Silverstreak discovers that the Goblins have moved camp after they found the Goblins killed by the Band of the Wolf. They have moved in front of a mine near the Old Caves. This mine have another entrance that the Goblins can use to escape. Colvis Nilenavi knew of another another entrance with an elevator in the top of the mountain.

The Band of the Wolf were lowered using the elevator to the mine with orders to take control of the mine and block the exit while the soldiers destroy the goblin army. In the water, two snake like aberrations were found and later, traps left by the goblins and a Gray Ooze. They had to open two locks in a big gate and found Goblins, Worgs and Hobgoblins. The Hobgoblins were guarding a chest with:

A small box with a closed Walnut that had something inside.

Search for my fortress. Use the treasures in the chest to find the Kastle. They are from the former owners who my father killed 1200 moons ago.

I want that Kastle. From it I will rule all the area and other goblins will joing me.

The Old Mill

The Old Mill

Baron Sherlane Halaran thanked the adventurers in person for helping Threshold and left for the capital city of Specularum to get troops from King Stefan Karameikos.

Following the lead of Aranhil Thunderseeker investigation (see forum), the adventurers spoke (researched and even searched their houses) of the following townfolk:

The discoveries are listed in each individual entry.

They retrieved the following items:

  • Raizak Derek brought some logs from the Church of Karameikos who belonged to the Torperson family.
  • Ignacio Del Toro calculated the height of the Tower that could be the only visible feature of the hidden Caverns of Quasqueton to be about four floors of height.
  • Daero of Alfmyr found and old amulet with the Torperson’s family letter in his cottage and after studying it they discovered that it was a broken key made for the late Baron Luvin Valurescu with the inscription: “You have won our trust and you know were we are, if you need to use this key, we can repay what we owe you.”
  • Yoshirou Nakajima copied the emblems made by the Ilyov family for future reference.

Helethil Bluebelleyes discovered that Carrienna Brightflame, Kenalas Silverstreak and the other five elves that came with them are not from the Kingdom of Alfheim but from Clan Vyalia and Clan Callari. They are elves from the Kingdom of Karameikos and part of King Stefan Karameikos’s loyal royal guard, The Elvenguard. This members of the Karameikos Army must be in Threshold for a reason.

After their research they entered the Old Mill and cleaned it of the Giant Ants infestation killing 1 Giant Ant Queen, 1 Giant Ant Consort and 10 Giant Ant workers. They also destroyed the Giant Ant Eggs with fire and retrieved the treasure stored by the Giant Ants. This act of bravery gained them the trust of the people of Threshold who had been treating them as outsiders for touching the body of a Wight.

The Dread Horde Part II

The adventurers of the Band of the Wolf studied the parchment found in goblins hands in the last adventure. Raizak Derek , Daero of Alfmyr and Nathaniel J. Flint have tried to understand the goblin code and the symbols and came to the understanding that the goblin letters were representing K = Keeps/Castles, TH = Threshold, L = ?, F = ?, and the X? They chose to find what the X means because the goblins encounter were moving in that general direction.

Joseph Alexander Xiloscient convinced the second in command of the guard Arthol Dellbell to give them a mission in that area. He was able to make Arthol believe that the idea was his. And they marched to the X without Lady Aleena Halaran knowledge.

At the end of the second day a patrol of Goblins was found and one was capture alive and intimidated into showing the location of their camp. The goblin camp had around 45 goblins, 3 Goblin Sergeants and their 3 Worgs. They check the camp for 24 hours to see that groups of 10 goblins came and go. The camp was a place to gather everything the goblins were stealing but wasn’t the main goblin camp.

When returning, the adventurers were attacked at night by a monster, a Wight who killed their good bard Joseph and turned him in another of his kind who they had to kill They got his body to Threshold only to find he cannot be resurrected. His funeral was payed with the money he (50gps) had and his gear was sold and the money sent to his family.
